Command Biographies
MACG-28 Executive Officer
Lieutenant Colonel Matthew E. Hall

Lieutenant Colonel Hall graduated from Penn State University in May of 1999 and received his commission through the Platoon Leaders Class.  Following The Basic School, Second Lieutenant Hall attended training in Twentynine Palms CA, and El Paso TX, for Air Command and Control, and Low Altitude Air Defense respectively.  
     
Following graduation, Second Lieutenant Hall reported to Marine Air Support Squadron (MASS) 1, Marine Air Control Group (MACG) 28, 2D Marine Air Wing (MAW) at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC.  During this tour he deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in 2003 and participated in OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM followed by Humanitarian Assistance Operations in Liberia.  He also deployed in 2004 supporting the 22nd MEU for OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, in Afghanistan.  Captain Hall was certified as a Weapons and Tactics Instructor in 2005. 
     
In June of 2005, Captain Hall reported to The Basic School where he served as an Instructor, and Staff Platoon Commander before departing for Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) in July of 2008.

Upon graduating from EWS in July 2009, he reported to MASS-2 in Okinawa, Japan for duty where he served as a Company Commander, Operations Officer, and Executive Officer. 

In July of 2012, Major Hall reported to the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Center (MAGTFTC) Operations Section in Twentynine Palms, CA. During this tour he coordinated future operations for units slated for Integrated Training Exercises and other MAGTFTC service-level training events.  In addition, Major Hall served as an Individual Augment to the Central Command J5, where he performed as the contact Officer for the Senior National Representatives from Belgium, Canada, France, Bosnia, and Croatia.  

In June of 2015, Major Hall reported to the MAGTF Staff Training Program (MSTP) in Quantico VA, and performed duties as an Air Command and Control Instructor and as the Communications Branch Head.  

Lieutenant Colonel Hall reported to MACG 28, 2D MAW in June of 2018 for duty as the Executive Officer.

From June 2019 to June 2021, Lieutenant Colonel Hall served as the commander of Air Control Training Squadron, Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School in Twentynine Palms, CA.

In July 2021, Lieutenant Colonel Hall reported to MACG 28, 2D MAW for duty as the Executive Officer.

Lieutenant Colonel Hall’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon with one gold star.
