Command Biographies
MACS-2 Commanding Officer
Lieutenant Colonel George E. Getman Jr.

Private First Class Getman entered the Marine Corps in June of 1998.  Upon completion of recruit training, Marine Combat Training, and MOS school, he checked into MWSS-274 during February 1999.  While at Cherry Point, he served with both MWSS-274 and MWHS-2 earning two Marine of the Quarter awards and a meritorious promotion to Corporal.  In April 2001, he executed his first PCS move to United States Central Command (CENTCOM) in Tampa, Florida.  While at CENTCOM he was selected as Service Member of the Quarter, spent time in Egypt, promoted to Sergeant, and ultimately was selected to the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP).  After completing MECEP preparatory school in MCRD San Diego, Sergeant Getman checked into the University of Rochester NROTC unit.  From 2003-2006, Sergeant Getman earned his degree from the State University of New York, College at Brockport and completed Officer Candidates School in 2004.  

Upon Commissioning in May of 2006, Second Lieutenant Getman went on to complete The Basic School, the LAAD Officer’s Course, and the LAAD Enhancement Training Instructor Course before being assigned as a Platoon Commander for Bravo Battery, 2d Low Altitude Air Defense (2d LAAD) Battalion in 2007.  During his time in 2d LAAD, Lieutenant Getman served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in a ground security capacity, served at the Battalion Headquarters in a variety of billets, and served as a Firing Battery Commander as a First Lieutenant.  Upon departing 2D LAAD in 2010, First Lieutenant Getman checked into Recruiting Station Cleveland to serve as the Officer Selection Officer, Kent Ohio.  After completing a successful tour on recruiting, Captain Getman executed a PCS to Quantico to complete the Expeditionary Warfare School resident course.

In 2014, Captain Getman checked into 2D LAAD Battalion to serve as Commanding Officer, Alpha Battery during that time he was also designated a Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) via completion of the WTI Course MAWTS-1, Yuma, AZ.  From 2015-2016, Captain Getman served as the Aide-De-Camp for the Commanding General, 2d MAW.  From 2016-2018, Major Getman served as the Operations Officer and then Executive Officer for 2D LAAD Battalion.  In 2018, Major Getman selected to attend the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) where he earned a Master’s degree in Manpower Systems and Data Analysis in March of 2020.  Upon graduating from NPS, Major Getman checked into Headquarters Marine Corps, Manpower & Reserve Affairs, Manpower Management to serve primarily as the Officer Staffing Goal Model Manager and other staff related functions as a member of the Manpower Management Integration Branch.
  
Upon departure from Quantico, Lieutenant Colonel Getman checked into to 2D MAW, MACG-28 to assume Command of Marine Air Control Squadron 2.

Lieutenant Colonel Getman’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Commendation Medal w/ gold star, Joint Service Achievement Medal w/ one cluster, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/gold star, and Good Conduct Medal w/one star.
