Command Biographies
MACG-28 Executive Officer
Lieutenant Colonel Amanda N. Donnelly

LtCol Amanda Donnelly commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 2004 through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program.  After The Basic School, she completed initial training at Air Support Control Officers Course at MCAGC Twentynine Palms, CA, and subsequently reported to Marine Air Support Squadron 1 (MASS-1) as a platoon leader and tactical air director. 

LtCol Donnelly’s operational assignments include: MASS-1 from 2005-2009: three deployments in support of OIF serving as tactical air director / helicopter director (2005), senior air director (2007), and DASC officer-in-charge (2009).  Between deployments with MASS-1, she served as platoon commander and Air Support Company Commander.  MASS-3 from 2012-2015:  Air Support Company Commander, Assistant Operations Officer, and Operations Officer.  II MEF G-35 from 2017-2019:  MAGTF Planner. MTACS-28 from Sept 2019 – Mar 2020: Executive Officer. MACG-28 from Mar 2020 – Jun 2021: Operations Officer. MASS-1 from Jun 2021 – Jun 2023: Commanding Officer. MACG-28 from Jun 2023 – present: Executive Officer.

Her service outside the operating forces includes duty as academics officer and DASC Division Head at MAWTS-1 from 2009-2012.

LtCol Donnelly is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School (Non-Resident), Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, Air Command & Staff College, and the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Auburn University, a Masters of Military Operational Art and Science and a Masters of Philosophy in Military Strategy both from the USAF’s Air University.

LtCol Donnelly’s person awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars. She was selected as the 2008 Aviation Command and Control Officer of the Year.
