Sergeant Major Jacobson is a native of Norman, Oklahoma. He enlisted into the Marine Corps August 2005, and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, at San Diego, California. In November 2005 he reported to the School of Infantry and completed Marine Combat Training (MCT). Upon completion of MCT, he reported to Fort Knox, Kentucky, to attend the Basic Armor Marine Course. Upon completion, he received orders to 1st Tank Battalion, Twenty-nine Palms, California.
In October 2006, Lance Corporal Jacobson executed his duties as a driver, loader, and gunner for the M1A1 main battle tank in support of operation Al Majid, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM in support of Battalion Landing Team 2/4.
In May of 2008, Corporal Jacobson was selected as a tank gunner for the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). After his return in November 2008, Sergeant Jacobson executed his duties as a Tank Commander. Shortly after becoming a Tank Commander, he was selected to become a Platoon Sergeant. After two years of serving as a Platoon Sergeant, Sergeant Jacobson received orders to Basic Recruiters Course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.
Sergeant Jacobson completed Basic Recruiters School in April of 2010 and became a canvassing recruiter in Oklahoma City. After twelve months of production, Sergeant Jacobson was assigned with running the largest Recruiting Sub Station. On January 2, 2012, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After his completion on recruiting duty in 2013, Staff Sergeant Jacobson received orders to 2d Tank Battalion, where he would assume the responsibilities of a Platoon Sergeant. In January 2016, Staff Sergeant Jacobson was selected to participate in the Combined Arms Company, Black Sea Rotational Force. During his time attached to the Combined Arms Company, he assumed many billets ranging from Platoon Sergeant to Company Gunnery Sergeant. Upon his return in October 2016, Staff Sergeant Jacobson received orders to Inspector- Instructor Duty, 4th Tank Battalion San Diego, and was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.
In November 2016, Gunnery Sergeant Jacobson assumed the duties as the Inspector-Instructor Operations Chief for Company A, 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division. He served as the Senior Armor Advisor for Company A during this period. He was the lead planner for multiple NATO exercises in Latvia during this span, including various other large-scale exercises. In September 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Jacobson attended Maneuver Senior Leaders Course in Fort Benning, Georgia. After graduation, he obtained the MOS of 1869, Senior Armor SNCO .
In December 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Jacobson was selected to First Sergeant and received orders to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines. During his time, First Sergeant Jacobson deployed with Bravo Company, attached to the 15th MEU in support of Operation Octave Quartz. December 2021, First Sergeant Jacobson received orders to 2d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion, where he served as Headquarters and Service Battery Unit Senior Enlisted Leader. First Sergeant Jacobson served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 28 from July 2022, to December 2022. He returned to Headquarters and Service Battery to serve as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader with 2d Low altitude Defense Battalion.
In November of 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major and received orders to his current assignment as the Sergeant Major for Marine Air Control Squadron 2.
Sergeant Major Jacobson's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Navy Achievement Medal with three gold stars in lieu of fourth award, and a combat action ribbon.
